[Frederic’s Name Part 2]

Hey guys just wanna let you all know that I appreciate all the responses. Pretty pleasently surprised to find that this blog is still noticed. I suppose since Frederic has a bit more presence now in the community it’s too late for a name change. So I’ll just stick with it unless a canon name comes out (which is extremely unlikely).

But I suppose Ivory Keys can be an option if someone is a stickler for “pony names”, even if it is a bit feminine. I personally can still imagine Frederic with that as his “pony name”. Might get teased a bit in high school though :P

PS: I don’t know why but I’ve suddenly started to miss the blog recently…

[Question on Frederic’s Name]

I’ve talked to a few ponies around Canterlot.com and some others on IRC.  There seems to be a group of bronies who dislike the name “Frederic Horseshoepin” and other pony names that only serve as puns to real people.  The argument is simple.  “It’s not a pony name”.

Quite frankly, I’m starting to agree.  It’d be kinda weird to have “hey this is Twilight Sparkle, Vinyl Scratch, and Frederic Horseshoepin”.  Now that I’ve seriously thought about it, it does have an odd ring to it.

It’s been a while since anything’s been posted on this tumblr so I doubt there’s still people who like this particular BG pony.  But if anyone out there still is interested in Frederic as a pony… what do you think?  Should he be associated with a different “pony name”?  Or do you just prefer Frederic already?

I think the name “Ivory Keys” would fit the character.  White silvery hair, black and white notes as a cutiemark.  What do you think?

Ugh… Well, you’ve probably noticed that this blog has been dead for months now…
I was struck with lack of motivation. I never really managed to develope a style for drawing ponies that I’d be comfortable, and that kinda didn’t motivate me to draw ponies. I was thinking that it’d be temporary, and…

It was pretty fun to follow you while it lasted dude.  I haven’t always been 100% happy with the community myself but I’m sorry to see that this has deterred you from interacting with the lot of us.

Good luck to whatever you do and thanks for all the Caesar responses :)

My favorite game franchise of all time.  +9999 from me for referencing Homeworld… I thought I was the only one in the world who’s still a fan of the games :)

[Clockwork Winding Down]

Alright, I really don’t want to jerk you guys around.  So this will be set in stone.  Narbe and I are working on an internet web project that isn’t pony related, and while the blog isn’t difficult to keep up with that on the plate, I always find myself forgetting to check it.  Which is a sign that I probably shouldn’t be the admin anymore.  I’ve offered Narbe absolute control but she declined.  We both mutually agreed it’d probably be best for us to focus on other things.

That said.  A very heartfelt thank you from both Narbe and I to every single follower here on Ask Fred.  Honestly, a few months back when we started the blog we wanted to give our favorite little background pony some exposure to a community that had largely ignored him.  But we had no real ambitions for the blog.

Little did I know that we would get Fred more noticed in the community and inspire BillyColt to write This Nearly was Mine, which is partially based on my triangle story arc here.  So yes, thanks to every single one of you who took the time to pay attention to whatever Narbe and I were doing here.  While this blog never got “popular” so to speak, that never really mattered to Narbe and I as we just did it for the love of our character.

So yes, I believe it’s time to close the curtains for now.  It’s unfortunate that I never got around to finishing the Fred, Tavi, Vinyl triangle arc and I also never got around to revealing Fred’s history with Vinyl.  (Despite what a few of you may think I actually had this whole thing planned out from day one).  But I’ll just keep that story to myself as a fanfic based on it might appear one day.  If not, well I suppose those of you who care can use your own imagination.

Oh and news on the ClassicallyEquestrian front.  I’ve managed to find (largely through BillyColt’s help) two more animators for the project.  If all this sorts out you will see my Fred character continued in that little webshow.  Hopefully that can get produced in the near future.  But I’ll post any news on that in this blog when there’s something to post.  So while this is the end to “drawn responses” for this blog.  It’s not the end to the blog entirely and it’s (hopefully) not the end to Fred’s character that I’ve created with Narbe.

But for now, it’s time for this Clock to wind down so to speak.  At least for a little bit :)

Sincerely,
Clockwork
